Well, we did it. After a summer full of school drama by getting into the charter school and turning that down because it was too far away and then trying to get into a dual immersion program at yet another school, we have finally made a decision. Both Hyrum and Zion will be learning in English one day and Spanish the next.
It was a bitter sweet feeling finally getting both kids into the program. We had the teachers we requested at our home school, the kids were going to be right across the hall from each other, the school has a good rating and good test scores and we also had many friends in the old school.
The new school isn't rated quite as high but it does have a drama program for Zion to participate in, it is still close to our house, and they will be learning not only words but how to communicate and do all of their core subjects in Spanish. We will see how it goes!
Great! I know what you mean about the bittersweetness, but the kids will get along great at the new school I'm sure. And it'll be another opportunity to expand their groups of friends! AND they'll be learning so much more simply by adding the second language. Good luck you guys!
