It is so fun to watch the kids learn and grow. Zion participated in the summer reading program at the library last summer. She read 100 books and got to meet the mayor. She started out reading the one or two word per page books and ended up reading the easy reader books. Since starting kindergarten, she can now read most anything she gets her hands on. She loves reading picture books to Hyrum and sometimes reads them backwards to get a laugh. She is currently reading Ramona Quimby age 8 by Beverly Cleary.
Hyrum is also learning by leaps and bounds. He can count to 20 and knows his colors but just never caught on to what the numbers looked like. We decided it was time to begin 'pre-school' with him. So far he has learned to recognize the numbers 3, 5, and 8. He enjoys searching for the numbers around the house and around town. He also loves puzzles. We would do puzzles together before and he always wanted us to show us where the pieces went. Then all of a sudden he just started doing them on his own. He loves putting puzzles together whenever he gets a chance; especially during scripture study! One day we had a puzzle party and put together all the puzzles we had in the house.
